AKASHI TAI & MANDARIN ORIENTAL

We created 40 photos for Akashi Tai. The aim was to highlight the food and sake pairings, with a particular focus on seafood. We also wanted to capture the beauty of the places in London where the Akashi Tai brand is distributed: The Mandarin Oriental, The Malt Bar, Kibou. Based in Akashi since 1856, the Yonezawa family brewery produces Akashi-Tai sakes with respect for the local, artisanal know-how of the Hyogo region. The latter is considered the birthplace of sake, and is the traditional sake brewing capital of Japan.

Although we couldn’t do an in-person scouting, extensive digital research allowed us to understand the qualities of the location before we arrived.  Featuring sake and food, the set design focused on creating an authentic environment that highlighted the cultural context of the products. The team composed the set with traditional Japanese elements like wooden trays, ceramics, and minimalist decor. These choices enhanced the Japanese visual storytelling and complemented the refined nature of the sake.
